Working with lot inspection statuses can help you to monitor and control the quality of your product
Inspection status is a term used in the context of quality management. It refers to the status of a lot, which is a collection of material that is subject to inspection. The lot inspection status is maintained and logged by the system and is changed whenever the actual status of the goods changes.
Working with lot inspection statuses can help you monitor and control the quality of your products and processes. Each inspection code may allow/block specific transactions. When creating a lot, a default inspection status is assigned that can be altered when proceeding moves. The lot inspection status may indicate whether a lot is on hold or available for production or selling. For example, to fill a sales order, you might need to search for a tested lot that meets a specific inspection status. When a lot passes quality inspection and meets the specifications, it is available for shipment to that customer.
By checking the lot inspection statuses, you can:
- Identify the lots that need further actions, such as plan assignment, sample calculation, results recording, usage decision, or stock posting.
- Track the history and performance of the lots, such as the defects detected, the inspection characteristics created, the quality level changed, or the certificate confirmation received.
- Ensure the compliance of the lots with the legal and/or customer requirements.
- Block vendor’s payment when having received defective products.
